I'm looking forward to the 2010 Biennale which explores the concept of the beauty of distance.

This is how the artistic director, David Elliot describes distance:

It didn't catch my attention when it was released but now looking back at it in retrospect it makes me want to go to a lavish pool party and engage in some provocative hip thrusts on beach towels...

500DAYSOFSUMMER

I wouldn't label this movie as a chic flick, although I can see how that misconception may easily occur, because it's told through a male's perspective. Moreover, the movie is 'not a love story' as one of the first voice over declares.

If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend watching it. It's appeal for me, comes from the grey issues and subtexts which are addressed, for instance in one key the screen is split into two unfolding scenes; one depicting the protagonist's expectations and the other reality. More than often, our expectations of how that night should of unfolded are unfulfilled, and instead we are left with a reality that we were too blind to infer.

Another revelatory idea conveyed, all too discerningly by Tom's little sister who has a knack for providing answers to Dr. Phil like relationship dilemmas, questions our of propensity when it comes to conjuring memories of a loved one. If we haven't moved on, are we simply choosing to hold onto the good memories from that past relationship? Only when we begin to discern the entire assemblage of memories from our previous relationship do we see cracks in the foundations.

Part of the reason why I want to watch 500 Days of Summer again is that it leaves me questioning what the salient idea is, and for that reason, the movie is enjoyably complex when compared to other more transparent films from the Romantic/Comedy genre.

And hell yeah - how could you not fall in love with Joseph Gordon Levitt, even in his moments of reckless abandon the man is dreamy...

Zooey Deschnael is beautiful but that's an undisputable fact. She reminds me of Katy Perry, no?

ive lost track of the days
a condition that occurs when you have no use for it
when everyday feels like a Friday or Saturday

so my attempt to cook dinner for the family
turned out un-disastrous
I made a splendid caeser salad for the entree
Pene a la Carbonara for the main course
and for dessert I made a mocktail using pineapple juice and bananas
garnished with mint leaves.
considering this was the first time I cooked dinner
I did a pretty damn good job.
(though I had to boil the eggs 3 times, nearly lost a finger

I've been in a state of depression

Watching: Gossip Girl

to sum up Britney's Circus show:
it was the highlight of my year!!!
the only negative comment I can make about it
was the five hours of waiting in line
however, because we came early we were upgraded to VIP
so I was standing only a few metres away from Britney
it was totes worth it

As expected, the australian media ONCE AGAIN
gave her bad reviews
don't believe what you hear
because she put on a spectacular show

photos do not do her justice
she looked stunning in person, her body is perfect
and when she sang everytime (she didn't lip sync this song)
her voice was angelic

I didn't have a problem with her lip syncing and barely noticed it
because I was so immersed in her performance
and the visual on stage.

and will remember that for the rest of my life
the photo quality isn't that great on my digital camera.

this is the first time in a while that I've decided to blog in bed
not that this realization holds carries any value,
but it's comforting

Firstly, after months of scrupulous planning I decided to dye my hair
a platinum blonde
personally, I didn't mind it
I thought it was very edgy a la Daul Kim et Agyness Deyn
but it attracted too much judgement from the conservative population
in my area
however, if I lived in somewhere like Newtown there wouldn't be a problem
damn I would love to live there
or relive high school there.

getting to the point, I decided to dye it again
from platinum/lemon blonde to dark blonde.

Right now I'm happy with my hair colour. Superficially it looks like an olive brown but
up close it's a dark blonde.

after the function we went for dessert

taking a break from all that studying
I was feeling slightly apprehensive about my last exam tomorrow
because I wasn't ready
but I gained some confidence today after writing a few essays.
Contrary to others' beliefs, I don't spend a lot of my time studying necessarily
I would study for a few hours > take a nap > wake up to eat > go back to studying

sometimes it would be: study > nap > study > television > study > nap

it's a bad habit that I've created for myself
this is why it is impossible for me to work in an office
I'd have to next to me to collapse on after every hour.

Beyond the humor and sex toys, Bruno is a social commentary
on homophobia, racism, religion, moral values,
enforced as satire.

for the past few weeks I've been having inner conflicts with myself
why the hell am I caring so much about what I think?
for instance, having lustful thoughts does not make me a slut
I've been the only person judging myself

I enjoy having conversations with intelligent people like my remedial chiropractor.
For some reason I can't find that connection with many people my age.

At 6 I went over my tutor's house to return the text books I borrowed off her
but stayed longer than I planned.
For the first time I had the chance to talk to her sister's boyfriend
and it was the second conversation of the day I enjoyed having.
We talked about all sorts of things;

It shocked me how new-age he was;
he didn't listen to mainstream music (and owned more record discs than cds and he's only 20)
this was proven when he said the only thing he knows about

of course we had our differences but also a few things in common
such as a deep appreciation for great films;
namely from directors such as Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan

These two exciting conversations in one day opened my mind to something important;

When it comes to perfume I tend to spray what I feel or even what I'm wearing. If my look for the day is moody and opulent then I would go for Calvin Klein Obsession which is unique in its scent. Polo by Ralph Lauren is timeless and works with more mature looks, i.e blazers, ties and button ups. A perfume by any other name would smell as sweet, hence don't employ judgment when I say Paris Hilton for Men is my main scent and appropriate for any occasion. Finally, if I don't want to make noise with my scent then I would use Karl Lagerfield's Kapsule Light.

Interestingly, perfume is a great idea for a gift because all my perfume are either gifts or birthday presents.

In total war Germany, rationing came in the form of ersatz goods which meant having a little bit of saw dust in your bread. I still cannot grasp how people lived that way.

During these tough times it is not really an option but a need for austere changes; for instance I haven't been shopping in the past 5 months not because I've been trying to save but I simply don't have the money.

What a gloomy reality... it almost feels as though I'm living in the Weimer years with the influx of military jackets over the past few seasons in fashion (oh what have you done Christophe Decarnin!). It's interesting how trends in fashion take us back to a period which may not be so different to our own.

I knew something had to be done about my situation... and the solution was so simple it came in form of a catchy acronym, DIY; or "do it yourself". I've been yearning for a pair of acid wash jeans for centuries now but the morbid reality is I simply cannot afford them. So today I decided to bleach an old pair of skinny legs and turn them into a grungy lookin' 'new' pair of acid wash jeans. The only problem is that because they were old, they fitted me 'back then'. To wear them now would mean sucking it in and telling my man parts to bear the pain. Actually because they're so tight I don't pull the zipper up all the way so my man parts can breathe.

Due to my empathy prone nature, often when I watch a movie I can't help but commit full sensibility to it. It's a quasi-transcendental experience but the reverie is broken when I come to realize that "it's just a movie". Earlier today I wondered briefly if we could apply the same antidote to real life situations.

For instance, you've just realized you've left the clothes outside and it's raining. The "it's just a movie" principle can then be (silently) initiated enabling you to go on with your life and worry about the things that are in your control. Of course it sounds silly and rather precarious in its application but what I hope it should alleviate is the unnecessary anxiety we have over situations out of our control. (I just realised how much I sound like that 'unworry' NRMA advertisement)

my heart wants me dance but my body does not have the energy to.
I just came back from watching Mao's Last dancer with a few classmates and my dance teacher along with her bestie who also happens to be one of my teachers.
The film is amazing and preceded my expectations with sublime dancing and a beautiful subject matter. Chi Cao who plays Li Cunxin is an incredibly handsome actor. As a dancer his technique is transcendent and without fault.
Whether it or not it was the inspiring film or my caffeine saturated mocha, as soon as I came home I changed out of my jeans and into my dance shorts. But my impetuous dive into dancing ended shortly because I was energy deprived and hungry.

It might surprise you (sure surprised me) to know that Li Cunxin currently resides in Australia (he lives in Melbourne with his wife and three children) and the Australian Ballet and Sydney Dance Company are heavily involved with this movie. I also think some of the scenes were shot in Australia.

Obviously I can execute a grand jete with ease but he's not too bad...

I'm not not a Christian nor do I read the bible but I enjoy a few lines from it, one in particular being the Serenity Prayer:

God, Grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change; courage to change the things we can; and wisdom to know the difference.

First there was the dust storm and yesterday the sky exploded with myriads of hale. All these unnatural weather contribute to a sense of imminent doom.... yet here I sit nonchalantly, attending to my own interests. What is more of a revelation is that the brooding weather is somewhat paralleled by my anxiety over my final exams which approach more closely by the minute...

For a moment the balls of ice distracted me from my anxiety and took my mind elsewhere.

Originally I had my eyes set on a fitted pastel blue suit with a white button up which would be mildly ruffled (much like the colour palette of Gucci's spring '09). But now my taste has shifted towards a darker pallet with a flower accessory (I'm going bridezilla over that perfect flower accessory).

Aside from my conflicting tastes I do hope that my tight budget will allow me such a wondrous outfit-to-be. I will search stores all across Sydney for that outfit with the same persistence as Brad Pitt in Inglorious Bastards, hunting them no good Nazis.
